365 Photo Project, Day 5

I’m running into the limitations of my iPhone’s built in camera, so I’m trying a different one. This is a Canon PowerShot I’ve had for about 8 years. It’s nice and small so it’s easy to slip into a pocket. The main reason I’m switching is for the zoom lens. Should help a lot with getting “closer” when I’m out and about.

365 Photo Project, Day 4

Went for a new walking route today. My old routes were 3 to 3.5 miles, mostly on pavement. The new route is a little over 5 miles with about a third of that on dirt trail through a regional park. On one side of the park is the last remaining farm land in our area. I took this picture of one of the farm buildings with an old truck parked next to it. I’m starting to really notice the limits of my iPhone’s camera so I hope to upgrade to a 4/3 mirrorless camera with a zoom lens fairly soon.

Peace out,

365 Photo Project, Day 3

Today was super windy, so I didn’t go outside much. It finally calmed down around 17:00 so I went for a walk and got this sunset. About a mile from my house on a favorite walking trail.

365 Photo Project, Day 2

365 photo project day 2

Found this little guy on morning walk through my AO. Even with all the new construction going on there’s still some wildness to be found. Wish I could have gotten closer. Maybe I need a better lens.

Peace out,

365 Photo Project

OK, I’m officially bored out of my skull. Two days ago our governor governor announced that starting today, masks would be mandatory for everyone in a public place. Whatever. It’s too hot, too humid, and too damn windy to enjoy my back yard. My wife is bored too, and she’s decided it’s MY responsibility to keep HER entertained. Again, whatever. Sick of this whole Wuhan Chinese virus crap.

So……………. I decided to start a 365 photo project. I’m not a photographer, so for those who also aren’t here’s what it is. A 635 photo project is a challenge to take one photo a day, every day, for a whole year. The challenge is 2-fold: (1) staying motivated to actually take a picture every single day for 365 days straight, and (2) finding something interesting every day to photograph. For this blog, a third challenge is keeping all the pics relevant to Backyardsmen and Backwoodsmen.

I figured today is a good day to start, since it’s the first day of being “required” to wear a mask in public. So here’s my first one. Simple shot, sitting at the roll top desk passed down to me from my Dad. The rocks on the shelf were collected by my Dad, and the small framed photo is him when he was a little boy. I really miss him right now…

Until next time…
